How the ground-breaking Polar Pod will revolutionise research in the Antarctic ocean
As an official partner for the project, Hublot introduces us to Jean-Louis Etienne – a doctor and explorer of the oceans and polar regions – who has created the Polar Pod. A uniquely original structure, Polar Pod was created in response to a problem posed by the scientific community – how do you collect long-term, in-situ data from one of the world’s furthest and most inaccessible oceans? In this instance, the Austral Ocean, which surrounds Antarctica. Etienne’s ground-breaking creation marks the first time that a ship will be able to welcome researchers and sailors the chance to study an ocean that has, thus far, been extremely hard to access.
