Escape to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda for a breathtaking experience with mountain gorillas

For a truly breathtaking holiday quite unlike any other, Asilia Africa has announced not just the launch of a brand new lodge in Uganda, but also a new initiative aimed at preserving one of the world’s most critical and biodiverse ecosystems — Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, and Asilia Africa’s new Erebero Hills lodge – slated to open in early 2026 – combines sustainable luxury with the thrill of observing one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat.

Aptly meaning “a place where you can see far,” Erebero Hills will be nestled in forty-five acres of reforested land, set on the northern fringe of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and with sweeping forest views afforded from each of the eight exquisitely-designed suites.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest holds deep cultural significance as the ancestral land of the Batwa People, with a rich heritage and connection to Bwindi.  As part if its new initiative, Asilia Africa has made a commitment to establish a new reforested buffer zone around the existing national park to further support wildlife, help preserve the Batwa cultural heritage, develop new sustainable and economic livelihoods for local Bakiga communities, and oversee the planting of 25,000 indigenous trees.

Once open, the unique nature of the lodge site will allow guests to experience the expanse of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, including the chance to go gorilla trekking, for an incredible experience to see these magnificent creatures in the wild.
