What are the new swimwear trends for summer this year?

There has been a demand for swimwear for the bigger busted lady, so I have designed a D-G range of bikinis and one pieces, providing extra support and lift for the bust. Hot colours are also popular – a trend straight from the catwalks. So brights are big for summer – think hot chilli red and vibrant tangerine.

How do you make classic whites and blacks interesting?

Classic whites and blacks are always great for a honeymoon on the beach, but make it interesting with a bit of texture. Also, the nautical trend never goes out of fashion, and with this year’s High Summer collection, I have created two nautical styles. The Catherine is quite an elegant and sophisticated look while the Sicily reflects the fun and sporty side of the wearer.

How does the swimwear you should pack for a honeymoon differ depending on location (such Europe vs Caribbean vs Indian Ocean)?

Wherever you choose to go, pick something that will make you feel gorgeous. Something simple and elegant is ideal for a relaxing trip to the Indian Ocean, like our Sienna bow bikini. For the Caribbean or somewhere exotic, our Reethi coral print bikinis will work perfectly. For a European break, you cannot go wrong with Nautical. I recommend our Riviera rope bikini for a laid-back, classic style. A city trip needs a few great cover-ups, like our Chile waist tunic or a cute Nassau boat neck dress.

What would be the perfect capsule wardrobe for a honeymoon in different destinations?

For a honeymoon along the beautiful southern isles of Sicily, take our gorgeous Nassau padded bikini and Sugar Hill bow dress, pair with a large raffia beach bag and dark-rimmed sunglasses for an up-to-date chic ensemble. Look gorgeous on a Caribbean beach in our Reethi coral print bikini worn under an effortlessly cool Marrakech shirt-dress. Take our glamorous Chile bandeau maxi dress for a romantic dinner and show off your tan. The vibrant Tahoe padded bikini is perfect for an indulgent honeymoon in the Far East, full of culture and life. Accessorise with an elegant wide brim hat and throw on the Chile waist tunic in black – the perfect accompaniment to your honeymoon wardrobe.

How can you pack light while still ensuring you have enough outfits for a beach honeymoon?

It’s best to plan your outfits before you travel, that way you can be sure you are taking just the right amount with you. Pair a gorgeous bikini with a versatile light kaftan which you can also wear again with a different bikini. A mini dress can take you through your relaxing days into the evenings, with only a few chic accessories.

What about keeping light summer clothes crease free?

Rolling your clothes is better than folding to guarantee less creases – a brilliant packing tip that I recommend to everyone. For a very special outfit, I would pop it on a hanger and into a clothes bag, but not for everything. Pack your accessories into your evening bag to prevent snagging and intimates can be popped into the bowl of your hat.

How many swimsuits do you recommend taking? Should they be different styles?

I recommend packing about 4 or 5 bikinis and a one piece. You don’t need many different styles; if a style works well for your body, stick with it and just choose a different colour or print for variation.

How can one dress for both activity and leisure in the swimwear – for example, diving in the Maldives and sunbathing?

If you’re planning to mix activities with leisure, opt for something versatile. A tankini is great for diving into the ocean without the risk of it slipping off, and can easily be rolled up to optimise your tanning. Avoid skimpy bikinis and veer towards a halter neck which gives you more security. The Riviera bandeau bikini is perfect for minimising those tan lines and gives you extra support around the neck.

What would be your recommendations for going effortlessly from beach to bar?

Throw a gorgeous kaftan, like our Chile rope dress, over your bikini for a chic beach cover-up and add a gold cuff and sandals for an effortless trip to the bar. A beautiful batwing top is cool enough for day and stylish enough for a cocktail after a tough day at the beach.

Heels – are they always a no with swimwear?

No heels! A pair of flat sandals by day and a pair of espadrilles for your evening maxi. For a honeymoon, I would forego the footwear and indulge in a bit of barefoot luxury.

What about accessories – who does the best accessories?

A Heidi Klein wide brim hat and oversized Tod’s sunglasses are my beach staples, with a slight addition of jewellery; maybe a gold cuff bracelet or a long elegant necklace to dress up your look for the evening.

How do different shapes of swimwear work for different body shapes? What are your tips for keeping it sexy and chic on your honeymoon?

It is important to choose the right style for your body shape to ensure you have the perfect fit. Our padded swimwear is great for enhancing a smaller bust while an under wired style is great for a larger bust. Elongate the legs with a skimpy tie side bottom, flatten the tummy with a ruched one piece or a roll top bottom – all with the constant features of support and comfort. Keep it sexy and chic on your honeymoon with a style to suit you in an elegant, feminine print.

What is the best way to shop for swimwear?

Get yourself a spray tan the day before you head out shopping. Swimwear always looks better with a tan and this way, you are sure to make the right choice and don’t get too depressed. Make sure you have some time to try on different styles. Once you have found the right style, choose a colour or print that works for your skin tone.

How about hair and skin care – do you have any top tips for keeping them at their best in the sun?

Make sure you exfoliate before you travel, not only to ensure you are beach ready but it will help you on your way to an even tan. Keep your skin moisturised throughout the day and don’t travel anywhere without your SPF. I recommend St. Barth’s Roucou sunscreen for protection and St. Barth’s Avocado Oil to cool your skin after a day in the sun and you can even put it in your hair to keep it soft and shiny. Smells wonderful too.

What would be your perfect honeymoon?

I spent my honeymoon in the beautiful Isle of Capri – two weeks of pure bliss. We stayed in a wonderful little boutique hotel – great food and even better cocktails – so romantic and peaceful. Definitely the perfect honeymoon.
